Tom Corron *

Tom Corron is a 1977 graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and worked his entire career in leadership and management roles in a number of companies in the Property Casualty Insurance Industry. He also served as the Insurance Industry Chairperson for the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America Committee on Motorcycle Insurance. Tom earned his Masters of Public Administration from Drake in May 2004, where he was awarded the Drake College of Business and Public Administration “Outstanding MPA” Award in 2003.

In 2005, after several years of respiratory infections and numerous doctor visits, he was diagnosed with Alpha-1. After moving to Fort Wayne in 2010, Tom organized and led the Fort Wayne Alpha-1 and COPD Support Group. He currently serves on the Support Group Leader Advisory Committee and in 2012 he received the Association’s Board of Directors’ Service Award. His passion for Alpha-1 Awareness is evident through his community involvement with the COPD Foundation, American Lung Association, Respiratory Health Association of Chicago, and American Association for Respiratory Care. Tom also serves on the Respiratory Therapist Advisory Board Member for Ivy Tech Community College, served on the planning committee of the Healthy Lung Expos in Indianapolis, and works with the Better Breathers groups in Indiana.

In 2011, he helped form a local non-profit historical preservation society in Kane County Illinois and currently serves as their President. Prior to his appointment to the Board of Directors for the Association in 2009, Tom volunteered with the Child Abuse Prevention Council in Des Moines, Iowa as their Public Relations Director. He also served on their Board of Directors and was a recipient of their Volunteer Service Award.
